Here you will find a list of grants available to the 63 GCWCC Community Centres in the City of Winnipeg.

The list includes: Federal, Provincial, Municipal, Corporate, Foundations and GCWCC Grants.This grant list is subject to change.

Criminal Record Check Grant - Available 

The City of Winnipeg has allocated $50,000 to GCWCC to help offset the costs of Criminal Record Checks for Community Centre board volunteers.
Community Centres can apply for a refund for up to 15 Criminal Record Checks per centre, per year. Click here for the application

Please submit applications and receipts to our Office for reimbursement. 

Community Centre
Renovation Grant

Apply for funding support towards repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements and renovation projects at your Community Centre. Improvements to  site upgrades (with the exception of outdoor rinks) and new construction resulting in increases to the UFF will not be considered. Please review the new application for more information. Maximum grant: $100,000

Application Deadline: March 15 and October 15

Programming Grant

New updated Application form! Apply for funding assistance to ensure your Community Centre can offer sustainable programs for your area residents. The grant may cover staffing wages and benefits, staff and volunteer training, supplies and materials, equipment and transportation costs.

2025 Janitorial Wage Subsidy Applications

Apply for funds to help your community centre hire a janitorial worker for day-to day maintenance of your Centre. Applications are prioritized based on Community Centres' needs. You must apply annually to be considered for the next year's program. 

The funding will transition in 2025 to a wage subsidy program. Centres will receive two payments towards wages for the position.

Note funding is limited, we will do our best to accomodate as many centres as possible. Late applications will not be reviewed. 

Athletic Field Maintenance Grant

Apply for full or assisted maintenance funding for your Community Centre's designated fields.  Funding is provided to participating Community Centres twice a year, on June 30 (70%) and September 30 (30%).
 

Deadline for 2024 applications is Monday March 4, 2024. 
Application Open: Fill in this application and send to office@gcwcc.mb.ca by the deadline.

Community Centre Program Registration Fee Subsidy Grant

This program is designed to help families who need financial assistance to register their child in Community Centre programs.
Please contact your community centre for details. 

The following link is a SAMPLE for information only.  

  • Community Centres review and approve the applications.
  • Applications received directly from parents or guardians will not be accepted. 
  • Community Centres, please contact our office if you need further information or assistance.
  • All funding is sent to the Community Centre, it is not forwarded to families or other sport organizations.

 


Jumpstart Community Development Grants

Canadian Tire Jumpstart offers two streams of Community Development Grants. 
Please note that Jumpstart, as of January 2024, has discontinued individual child grants.

Hockey Canada Assist Fund

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund was created in response to the many families experiencing financial challenges. The goal of the fund is to help Canadian youth access hockey and return to the game they love. Find out more at their website.
